Doherty, Patrick

BACKGROUND

Patrick has painted for most of his life, exhibiting and painting as a commissioned portraitist. Though at ease with other media he loves the consistency of oil paint – how it lends itself to human subjects. Known to paint with spiritual significance he is inspired by the Australian landscape. In addition to painting daily, Patrick has conducted painting workshops and art tutorials.

TRAINING

In 90’s, studied painting at the Julian Ashton Art School, Sydney.

Study toured to the USA, South America and Africa 2006-2009.

AWARDS

Finalist Doug Moran National Art Prize – 2002; 2009.

Finalist Lexus Mortimore Art Prize – 2009.

Solo exhibition was at an open show in Maroubra – 1995.

Solo exhibition; University Hall, Glebe – 2007.

Series of ten paintings commissioned by Anthony Field (Wiggles).

COMMISSIONS

Prices vary from $3,000 to $5,000 for a full length oil portrait.

The process varies according to the time on hand and may be from live sittings, a photo shoot or a combination of both. I personally guarantee the final work being a lifetime treasured piece.
