“ I am producing a souvenir A2 size poster/invite for my show so if any of your members would like to receive one by mail they can send me a mailing address asap as I will have to know how large to make the print run (these are free of course); also one of the works for my show which was first seen in the Blake Prize last year.”

Portrait Artists Australia presents an IN YOUR FACE exhibition of CLOSE-UPS! 60 penetrating paintings on 40×40 cm canvas.

PAA EXHIBITION CALENDAR

We are currently negotiating Freight Sponsorship for these 2 dynamic exhibitions, so that our PAA artists who do not live in Sydney can enter these two exhibitions with minimal freight cost. Please email or post your EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST, so that we have an idea how many artists will be participating. These paintings will be suitable to enter into other selected exhibitions…

OCTOBER 2010 EXHIBITION

AT THE ARTHOUSE HOTEL, PITT ST SYDNEY.

SUBJECT & THEME: Nude Portraits.

Title of exhibition: The Artist’s Muse

Since FACE OFF! is all small works we are encouraging larger works for this next show. The ArtHouse Hotel has a large exhibition area. The subject of this exhibition is nude portraits or portraits in the nude – preferably full length or full body poses. Artists may include drapery if they wish. Drapery is optional. The portrait must show a recognisable likeness of the person. This is not a figure study. The paintings will demonstrate anatomical conviction as well a portrait likeness, thus allowing PAA artists an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in both areas. The Arthouse Hotel is an elegant heritage building offering two floors and 3 exhibition spaces and thousands of visitors each week.

APRIL 2011 EXHIBITION

SYDNEY PARLIAMENT HOUSE, FOUNTAIN COURT GALLERY.

SUBJECT & THEME: Figure in the Landscape.

Title of exhibition: The Face of Australia

In this work PAA artists have the opportunity to incorporate the Australian landscape as well as a portrait in the painting. The Parliament House is a venue a perfect setting for a celebration of the people and the unique Australian landscape.

All PAA exhibiting members may enter – from all States.

PAA will take the whole Fountain Court exhibition area, which leaves a lot of walls for LARGE paintings incorporating the Australian landscape – sea, desert, farms, hills, coast, urban-scapes…anything. The portrait can be of anyone at all as well as any celebrity the artists can approach. This theme is easy to market to the media, as it incorporates the land and the people who love it. We will have floor talks by the artists for this exhibition. Sydney Parliament House is a beautiful venue with a lot of local and international visitors.
