ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Creativity has always been a driving force in my life; in my youth I won a number of art prizes, including the School Prize for Art and for the last 30 years I have worked in the design industry in Africa and Australia, having won a number of industry awards for graphic design in Zimbabwe, South Africa, and later in Melbourne.
I started painting portraits in 2005 being inspired by rich memories of growing up in Africa – memories of vibrant colour and unique land formations, and the joy of the African people. I work with landscapes and abstract compositions as well as figurative compositions and portraits.
I accept commissions in Australia and overseas. A percentage of sales proceeds of my African ‘pikinins’ goes to Plan International, a small way to give something to those African children so desperately in need.
