My name is Eva Suzanne Herz-Murray. I have had a very busy career in art; drawing, painting, designing, illustrating, sculpting and teaching. Although I am now retired from school, I still have life drawing classes at home. Now I also specialize in Portraiture.
I attended the Julian Ashton Art School (1949 – 1953). Here, I studied under John Parsemore and in 1960-63, I was taught by Thom Gleghorn at East Sydney Technical College. In 1963, I graduated from Sydney University with Sp. Art Dip. Ed. Amongst my other teachers, I was privileged to be taught under Frank Hinder and Dorothy Thornhill, who both contributed to my artistic development.
At an early age, I received an Art Award from Norman and Lyonel Lindsay and I painted my first oil portrait, “Girl from the Seashell Islands”, in 1950. I had also been commissioned to draw the entire “Cable Family” to decorate the walls of the Cable dinning room (Regent Hotel). I also created drawings for the penthouses of this hotel.
Recently, I was commissioned to create a portrait of the headmistress of a famous girls’ school and another of a famous businessman, the head of a large bank.
Amongst my artistic achievements, I photographed the Himilayan Car Rally. Later, I made many drawings of the Indian Rally drivers.
