Fiona has passionately painted portraits, landscapes and still life professionally since the early 1980′s. She has taught art since 1977 in various government schools and private studios.
Over the years she has worked as an illustrator, stage costume designer, sculptor and is also an accomplished jeweller/jeweller designer.
In the early 1990′s she painted portraits in the south of France where she had a studio near Valbonne, exhibiting paintings and jewellery at a gallery in Cannes sur Mer and the Australian Embassy in Paris.
She has had numerous group and solo exhibitions and has had commissioned : portraits, jewellery and sculpture. Her love of colour leads her to paint in an expressionistic manner to capture the essence of character in a portrait.
She currently works from her studio in Oyster Bay, Sydney and teaches painting and jewellery in the studios at Hazelhurst Retreat, Regional Gallery, Gymea, in the Shire. Fiona works from life preferring oils, however she also works quickly sketching with pencils and watercolour for a la prima works on paper and canvas.
For a large more studied oil painting 3 sittings are preferable plus sketches for colour and photographs are taken to work on other parts of a painting without the sitter.
